Serving Fulton and Montgomery counties, this RCIL location offers a wide range of services, including the following:

  • Advocacy efforts, both individual and systemic, are a primary focus in the delivery of all services. Programs are designed to assist people with disabilities to move toward independence.
  • Architectural Barrier Consultation offers advice to the public concerning accessibility requirements and home modifications. The Center provides on-site surveys and detailed recommendations in accordance with NYS Building Codes and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This service is available to businesses, agencies, and homeowners.
  • Benefits advisors assist consumers to apply for benefits from government-sponsored programs such as SSI, Social Security Disability Insurance, Public Assistance, Medicaid, and food stamps.
  • Consumer-Directed Home Care -- Allows individuals who qualify for home care through Medicaid the opportunity to take control of the services they receive.
  • Employment Services assist with finding and maintaining competitive employment. All services are individualized, integrated, consumer-directed, and offer competitive job opportunities.
  • Independent Living Skills Training assists people with disabilities to develop skills to achieve greater independence. Training areas are based on consumer need and can include budgeting, money management, cooking, travel training, and more.
  • In-Home, Consumer-Controlled Respite reimbursement program gives participating families with members who have a developmental disability the opportunity to self-direct the hiring, scheduling and oversight of a respite worker so caregivers can establish a respite schedule that meets their individual family needs.
  • Information and Referral Services direct consumers to other community agencies whose services may meet their needs. Information on a variety of subjects, including availability of housing and transportation, is also offered.
  • Lions Loan-Out Library offers a range of assistive listening and alerting equipment.
  • Peer Counseling, provided by an individual with a disability, helps people explore options, face challenges, and develop problem-solving strategies. The peer counselor provides information as well as emotional support.
  • Service Coordination services are provided in conjunction with several other programs at RCIL. Staff put their advocacy experience and expertise regarding community resources and services directly to work for consumers.
