Peer Counseling
Peer Counseling offers the opportunity for individuals to work with people who have personal experience with disability issues, creating an atmosphere of mutual understanding. This service is provided one-on-one or in a small group setting. Information and referral regarding accessible housing, adaptive equipment, financial benefits, and independent living skills training are provided.
RCIL also offers services tailored to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. We have a full staff of certified, professional ASL interpreters, and an experienced counselor with sign language skills is available to meet with consumers about any concerns related to independent living, including&
- Assistance in establishing accessible housing
- Telecommunications (TTY/TDD) training
- Financial benefits counseling
- Legal assistance
- Guidance in using RCIL's Assistive Device Library
- Community education on Deaf culture
- Interpreting services
