Executive Director and CEO, Burt Danovitz, Ph.D. will leave The Resource Center for Independent Living (RCIL) on June 28, 2013 after 30 years of leadership.

Burt lived and worked in Maine for several years after receiving his Master of Arts in Blind Rehabilitation in Michigan. Burt continued his education and received his Ph.D. in Counseling and Educational Psychology, specializing in Rehabilitation at Michigan State University before moving to Upstate NY in the early 1980s. Since 1983, Burt has utilized his experience, skills, integrity and passion to lead RCIL.
His dedication, passion and commitment to disability rights and a world of equality will continue through continued consulting and writing. Burt will remain in the realm of advocacy and public policy change for human rights. He will consult with RCIL until a permanent replacement for his position is found.
Joann Marshall will act as Interim Executive Director as of July 1, 2013 until the search is complete.
