Long Term Care Ombudsman Coordinator

Description

Starting Pay Rate: $19.41 per hour (plus 5% bilingual differential)

Job Duties:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Ensure overall program operation and compliance with Federal and State requirements
  • Provide oversight of volunteer members for the Long-Term Care Volunteer Ombudsman and recommend, recruit and vet new volunteers
  • Ensure the ongoing implementation of certification and in-service training sessions for Ombudsman volunteers conducted in accordance with State Ombudsman requirements
  • Respond, monitor and investigate resident issues, as necessary
  • Ensure program documentation, reports and records are processed meeting all compliance standards
  • Participate in outreach activities, program education and public awareness

Education:

  • A Bachelor degree in social work, human services or similar field is preferred
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience working in elderly services, mental health and advocacy
  • Strong public speaking and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Driver’s license and personal vehicle for transportation
  • Fluency and proficiency (reading, writing, speaking) in a second language, Spanish and English is preferred for the position
