Disability Rights Advocate - Housing Specialist

Starting Pay Rate: $17.95 per hour

Benefits:

Flexible work schedule menu to include the ability to work: a four-day work week, nine-day biweekly schedule with a three-day weekend every other week, or a typical five-day work schedule.

Job Duties:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Remain informed of disability regulations and policy in order to provide information, referrals, and educational services;
  • Identify independent housing opportunities for unstably housed individuals;
  • Encourage and educate consumers in self-advocacy; and
  • Assist eligible participants through all necessary steps in the housing process.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Candidates should have two years of experience working with people with disabilities. A knowledge of state and local housing policies and practices is required. Candidates should have a working knowledge of entitlement programs. Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills are required, along with a knowledge of disability rights legislation. An Associates Degree is preferred. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

RCIL is a civil rights organization that offers individuals with disabilities a wide range of independent living and advocacy services through the numerous programs we manage.
