Direct Support Professional
The primary task of the Direct Support Professional (DSP) is to teach, guide and assist individuals with disabilities to acquire, retain and improve the self-help, socialization and adaptive skills necessary to reside successfully in home and community-based settings. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve this by implementing the goals outlined in the Staff Action Plan and assist the individual to:
- Maintain a comfortable home.
- Participate in recreational and social functions.
- Refine socialization skills.
- Exercise choice and self-determination.
- Implement daily practices to promote positive behavioral and physical health.
- Communicate and express oneself effectively.
- Explore new and practical experiences.
- Engage in and contribute to the community.
Staff must provide their own transportation to and from individual’s home and accompany the individual in the community, maintain confidentiality of all work-related information and complete DSP Basic Training upon being hired and annually as needed.
Who may be considered:
Successful candidates will have experience working with individuals with disabilities. A valid Driver's License and a reliable vehicle to provide transportation is required. A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Placement: Per diem
Wages: $12.36/hour, $12.86/hour after six (6) months of successful employment
