Department of Social Services (DSS) Liaison

Full time

Description

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Engage, assess and assist work activity requirements for DSS individuals with disabilities;
  • Review each individual’s historical documentation;
  • Develop a plan for employment in conjunction with each individual; and
  • Monitor status to ensure community linkages remain in line with each individual’s goal.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Candidates must have at least two years of experience working beside individuals with disabilities, the ability to communicate effectively via phone, email and with written communication, and a strong knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), DSS, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), State Vocational Rehabilitation Service Agencies (ACCES-VR, CBVH),and Community Service Agencies. A thorough understanding of the Social Service system and resources in the community is required. An Associates Degree is preferred; a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Wages: $17.44 per hour

Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm, 9:00am-5:00-pm. Hours vary depending on Herkimer DSS hours.

Travel Required: Yes

Location: Herkimer, NY
