Statewide Systems Advocacy Network Coordinator
The Resource Center for Independent Living is excited to announce a new flexible schedule option for employees! Employees may be eligible to work either Monday-to-Friday 8am-4pm OR extended hours with every other Friday off.
The Statewide Systems Advocacy Network (SSAN) Coordinator will encourage, model and bring advocacy leadership to people with disabilities in Fulton, Herkimer, Montgomery, and Oneida counties. The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Coordinate and facilitate system-wide advocacy efforts in coordination with RCIL’s Director Team and Leadership Team;
- · Assist in implementing outreach plans related to system-wide issues with RCIL staff when concerns are identified by any of the RCIL Centers (Amsterdam, Herkimer and Utica);
- · Complete and submit monthly reports regarding SSAN activities in the format provided by the New York Association on Independent Living (NYAIL); and
- · Establish no fewer than five (5) local partnerships or coalitions per contract year with organizations whose mission is consistent with the Independent Living Philosophy in order to address issues of concern to people with disabilities.
RCIL is a civil rights organization that offers individuals with disabilities a wide range of independent living and advocacy services through the numerous programs we manage.
Who may be considered:
At least three-to-five years of experience working with people with disabilities is required; prior experiences in advocacy, leadership and community outreach are preferred.
The successful candidate must demonstrate commitment to disability rights and the Independent Living Philosophy. Familiarity with disability-related legislation and regulatory bodies is required.
An Associates Degree with two-years of Human Services experience is required.
