Celebrating Inclusion: International Day of Persons with Disabilities
On December 3, the global community unites to honor the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD)—a day dedicated to raising awareness, promoting understanding, and championing the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities. At RCIL, we proudly join this movement, reaffirming our commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and empowerment as everyday realities—not just aspirations.
Each year on December 3, the world comes together to recognize the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD)—a day dedicated to promoting understanding of disability issues and mobilizing support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities.
At RCIL, we proudly stand with the disability community, advocating for a world where accessibility, inclusion, and empowerment are not just ideals, but everyday realities.
Why This Day Matters
1 in 6 people worldwide live with a disability. That’s more than 1.3 billion individuals whose voices, talents, and contributions enrich our communities.
Despite progress, many still face barriers to education, employment, healthcare, and civic engagement.
IDPD is a reminder that disability rights are human rights, and that inclusion benefits everyone.
RCIL’s Commitment
At RCIL, we believe that independence, choice, and community integration are fundamental rights. Through our programs and services that we offer in our locations in Utica, Herkimer and Amsterdam, we support individuals with disabilities in living self-directed lives, advocating for their needs, and accessing the resources they deserve.
Whether it’s through peer support, accessibility services, or advocacy, we are committed to building a society where everyone belongs.
