  2. Empowering Innovation: Meet Ryan Shedd, RCIL’s Director of…

At RCIL, technology is more than just infrastructure—it’s the backbone of progress and accessibility. Leading this charge is Ryan Shedd, our Director of Information Technology, who has been shaping the organization’s digital future since joining the team nine months ago.

Ryan grew up in Fairfield, NY, attended West Canada Valley school and has three siblings—an older brother and two younger sisters. That strong foundation led him to pursue opportunities where he could contribute meaningfully to others.

“I have a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oswego in Computer Information Science and hold a CompTIA Security+ certification that I keep up to date and active,” Ryan shares. “My most recent employment prior to RCIL was at Slocum Dickson Medical Group. Prior to that I was in the school system for 10 years. I then moved to the private sector and have been there ever since. I have ranged from a Computer Technician all the way to Director of Technology here at RCIL.”

“I chose RCIL because I admired its commitment to innovation and creating a meaningful impact in the community,” Ryan explains. “It’s inspiring to be part of an organization that values growth, collaboration, and making a difference.”

When asked about his favorite part of the job, Ryan says, “Collaborating with colleagues to solve challenging problems and seeing our ideas make a positive impact. Every day brings opportunities to learn and grow while contributing to projects that matter.”

One of Ryan’s most significant accomplishments was leading a project that improved RCIL’s system performance and efficiency across the organization. “Seeing the positive impact on productivity and user satisfaction was incredibly rewarding,” he shares.

The IT team’s biggest challenge is keeping pace with rapid technological advancements while ensuring security and reliability.

RCIL’s mission resonates deeply with Ryan. “It motivates me to give my best every day because I believe in the positive impact we’re making for our clients and community.”

Ryan describes RCIL’s work environment as “a family where everyone supports each other and celebrates success together. It’s a place that encourages growth, creativity, and genuine collaboration.”

Outside of work, Ryan enjoys spending time with family and friends, golfing, watching sports, and staying active. “Balance is key—I set boundaries between work and personal time so I can recharge and stay focused during the work week.”
