Adult Day Service - Program Aide and Driver

Status: Part time / Per Diem
Wages: $17.50 per hour
Description:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Ensure participants’ care plans are being implemented on an ongoing basis.
- Provide monitoring and oversight to all participants.
- Ensure a meaningful, enriching environment and experience to participants in a Social Adult Day Program.
- Assist participants with escorting on and off transport vehicles.
- Perform daily pre trip and post trip vehicle inspections.
- Read and interpret maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route for participants.
- Fuel the vehicle.
- Ensure periodic scheduled vehicle maintenance is completed and reported.
- Provide safety briefings to participants and staff.
- Keep the assigned vehicles clean inside and outside.
- Serve as back up to the Full Time Driver working in the Many Hearts program.
Educational Requirements:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Driving experience in a work setting preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of Independent Living Philosophy, HIPAA and operations and features of assigned vehicles.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- A valid, clean, NY State Driver’s License is required.
- Ability to establish effective relationships, responsiveness to working with the elderly population.
- Ability to prepare concise and accurate records.
