Hello, I am looking for a female worker with a car, for a 14 year old girl who lives in Long Island in Nassau County near Valley Stream. You will be working with a special needs young adult for around 18+ hours per week after school Mon-Thursday and Sunday mid-morning to early evening. Sundays are a key day for the family and they would like the future worker to take their daughter to museums, and other community events (Rockefeller Center, Manhattan during Christmas, etc) during that weekend day. As part of your job, you would also take the individual on various community outings, to after school classes that she is attending, and help her to work on and improve her ADL’s (Activities of Daily living) such as: how to keep her room tidy, and social skills. The individual in question is non-verbal and receives aid from a behaviorist twice a week to help her learn how to best use her communication device. You will work with the behaviorist as well in order to communicate well with the individual. She enjoys gymnastics, DJing classes, puzzles, bowling, and especially swimming. Knowing how to swim is a bonus as outings to the local gym to use their pool would be a part of your activities. The family has a dog that will be present for in-home sessions so dog lovers are welcome! The individual is very sociable and loves interacting with others. The starting rate of pay is $18.00, but there is slight room for flexibility based on previous experience. There will also be potential for yearly performance based raises. All expenses are fully reimbursable during your time with the individual; this includes roundtrip mileage reimbursement if you use your car for outings, roundtrip transportation reimbursement if you travel to outings via MTA (LIRR, bus, train, MetroNorth) or Uber and Lyft, reimbursement for all entry costs (gyms, museums, pumpkin or apple picking, etc) and reimbursement for all food costs while out with the individual.
